Wedding Belles

I absolutely love any excuse to go shopping for a whole new outfit so it's even better when what you're buying is going to make you look fabulous for not one, but two, summer weddings.

It also helps that my birthday is coming up and as a result I didn't actually have to buy that much of the soon-to-be-showcased outfit (thanks Mum) which makes the look all the more sweet.

I'm using the term 'summer weddings' quite loosely as technically - technically - neither wedding is being held in the summer (but it's such a nice turn of phrase). Wedding numero uno is practically knocking on summer's brightly coloured door as it is being held towards the end of May - and the sunshine will be out in force that day damnit. Wedding number two however...well that's not until December (I can hear the cries of outrage now - that's not summer! It's not even spring!) BUT if you're in Australia then summer has just started. And I will be in Australia so it IS a summer wedding. Ha.

It may strike you as a bit hasty to go rushing out to the shops in March to buy an outfit for a wedding in December, but let's face it - this is Scotland. Pretty soon the summer sales will be upon us and it'll all be the junk no one wanted at full price (in other words my darling dress will be hanging up in someone else's wardrobe) and all that will surround me as far as the eye can see will be New Season: Just In - Autumn/Winter. I don't think that will go down too well in 35 degree temperatures in Adelaide do you?

So that's why I made the calculated decision to buy now, wear later. Not to mention the fact that I just really wanted to get my amazing clothes now!

What I love most about this Ted Baker dress is the Sixties style cut and the amazing pattern - I love hummingbirds and this dress is covered in them and the overall look is stunning. (I was quite surprised at how quickly I managed to find my dream dress - Ted Baker isn't usually the shop I would head to for...anything really - I'm not a massive fan - but they seem to have up their game a bit this season and I was quite impressed by what the label had to offer.) There are so many colours integrated into the design that you have the option to match it up with pretty much any shade of accessory.

And as you'll see I went with these gorgeous metallic turquoisey blue courts by Kurt Geiger's Miss KG label and matching clutch bag. You can't see it so clearly in the picture, but the colour exactly matches that of some of the beading detail on the dress - it's such a perfect combination that they could almost have been made for each other.

To finish the look off I finally got the item which has been top of my List of Lust for the past month since the first time I clapped eyes on it. This stunning pink, black and white summer coat from Spanish label Desigual. I've paid the coat a visit every time I've been in the city centre and yesterday my dear old mumma finally caved and bought it for me as an early birthday present. As shallow as this sounds, it could quite possibly be one of the best presents I've received ;-) je t'aime (sorry i don't speak Spanish).

Now all that's required is sunshine, warmth and champagne! xxxx
