What Music Taught Me in 2010...

You can learn a lot from a song if you listen to the words really carefully.

Well 2010 taught me that:

*You can actually write a bad romance
*You're amazing...just the way you are
*Airplanes in the night sky are just like shooting stars

*If you wear designer shades to hide your face, you probably think you're cooler than me
*Everyone wants to be a billionaire...soooo freakin bad
*A DJ can actually make you fall in love
*Girls like to feel like they're the only ones in the world

But we knew all that already didn't we?

I've always liked to think I'm a bit of a music afficionado, however since returning from Australia I'm constantly listening to the radio and thinking...'now who's that? I've never heard this song before..' and have had to put up with people saying to me 'aw I'm forgetting you wouldn't know this song would you?' as if I've been living in outer space for the past 18 months. But actually they're not wrong, I've struggled to recognise a lot of the music since being back home - but that's all going to change in 2011, I've got my muso head on again and I can't wait to hear what tunes the industry has to offer. I mean, let's be honest - it can't be much worse than the above list can it? I think there's three songs mentioned up there that I actually like. The rest were just white noise to me.

I'd like to share a link for a band I fell in love with in Australia - Little Red is a five-piece band from Melbourne who has been on the scene since 2005. The band's music has been compared to the Beach Boys because it is old fashioned rock and roll, with every member except the drummer contributing to the vocals - lead singing and harmonies.

Little Red has supported Kasabian and Vampire Weekend on the major tours of Australia, as well as playing at a number of high profile Australian festivals. The band's most recent single Rock It is probably one of my favourite songs of 2010...I hope you like it too :)
