As opposed as I am to the size zero culture - although I will stress again that zero is NOT a size, it is a nothing - I find myself once more being drawn into the obsession that is (wait for it...) America's Next Top Model. Cycle 15 if you please.
I have a sort of horrified fascination with this programme because I'm traumatised by how thin the girls who take part are, but I'm in love with the fashion. It's a vicious circle, apparently you can't have one without the other. The worst part for me watching it on Monday night was witnessing a young woman called Ann who had a waist that was, quite literally, the size of one of my thighs. She is 6"2 and one of the judges on the show, J. Alexander, can wrap both his hands ALL the way around her waist. That's crazy and disturbing. And yet, she's going to look fabulous as a high fashion model. Isn't that twisted?
I don't know how I feel about high fashion and couture - I love to look at it but it's never something I'm going to be able to wear, standing at a mere 5"5 and wearing a clothes size 10. In saying that though, I would give my right arm to be front row centre during Paris Fashion Week. The glamour would be almost overwhelming.
I think this season I'm loving boho-chic - but if I see Sienna Miller so much as slip back into a maxi dress and braid her hair, I'll deny I ever made the above comment. I love layers and long 'I'm scared I might trip over this' scarves that I can wrap around my neck five times and still have it skimming my knees.
I'm constantly finding myself walking by shop windows and simply stopping to daydream about all the things I can't afford. My next port of call is going to be the charity shops on Byres Road in Glasgow. Upmarket second hand gear is going to become my forte because, to put it bluntly, I'm as poor as a church mouse right now.
I'm currently coveting a Marc Jacobs Paradise Janice tote...not that it'll be hanging up in my wardrobe anytime soon but a girl can dream right? And on a more affordable note a stunning blue/grey 60s shift dress from River Island. Feel free to purchase and send them my way!
